How To Cope With Depression

Knowing how to cope with depression is difficult, but it can be done. If you are dealing with someone experiencing depression, try to understand it is a medical and mental problem. The reason for the problem may be something that has just happened and will just take time to recover from or it may be a trauma experienced in childhood or in war. Learning to live with this person and how to help them is going to be a part of your life as long as you are with them.

Begin coping by understanding how the person feels. It is not something they can snap out of. You must take them on a slow walk back to health. Begin by remaining positive. Do not sink into the same problem they have. By being around a positive person they can feel a part of normal life instead of becoming worse. Suggest a visit to the family doctor. They are going to fear anyone who might hurt them, but you have to make sure they know they will be safe with you along. Everything is one step at a time and your job is to stay positive, make them move around and exercise, do not yell or scream or get angry, make them eat regular meals, and be a friend.
